Began her career as a screenwriter. She has comprehensive television experience, having worked in various capacities as both a broadcaster and an industry professional. To date Erica has developed six long-running television shows, all of which have been produced (Jane and Abel, Sumu La Penzi, How to Find A Husband, Wrath, Majaribu and Kisasi). Her shows have aired on both continental and international platforms. She was nominated for an Africa Magic Award for best series for How to Find A Husband. She has also written and published the stories Blues for Absalom, and Small Houses. Both of Erica’s stories for FEMRITE – Apple and The Party – place African women at the center of her narratives. She is particularly interested in complex representations of African women – rejecting simplistic portrayals of them in binary terms. She currently lives in Nairobi, Kenya. When she is not fending off the usual East African jokes about bad Tanzanian English, she daydreams about having a ‘room of one’s own.’
